I'm not sure how to write this because I'm in disbelief. Sorry for short message but can't see very well due to eye drops. Firstly thank you for all of your lovely messages. As you may know I have a number of eye problems, ironically none of them diabetes related. I am reliant on my right eye for reading due to macula damage (non diabetic) to my left eye. After seeing optician yesterday (details in hugs please thread) I went to eye casualty. an OCT scan has shown that The macular hole in my right eye has worsened - enough to explain why words are jumping about on the computer screen. They could barely see it on October's OCT scan and now it is clear. I can't do anything, I just have to sit and wait. I have a retinal appointment at the end of April but it appears that there is a reluctance to operate on these macula holes, although that may be a long-term option. So I've just got to wait and see what happens, although it has had a notable effect in just a week. There is also a membrane on my left eye which could be causing problems but is too risky to remove. I have to go back to eye casualty if I have a sudden drop in vision.

How scary and upsetting for you AJ. It must be such a worry fighting visual problems in both eyes. I know they're reluctant to repair macular holes but I've heard it can be very successful. There were so few options when my mum developed macular degeneration and having lived through every awful moment of that with her, I can understand your fears.
Sending huge hugs and best wishes your way that these issues can be resolved for you x

Sorry to hear that AJ, how worrying. Hope it stabilises and your vision is ok. xx

Really sorry to hear this Amanda :( I hope that things stabilise for you {{{HUGS}}}

Must be really scary for you AJ. I really hope it gets no worse and send ((( hugs))).

Oh B**ger. Not what you needed. Sending best wishes and big hugs.

So sorry to hear this AJ - I feel for you - this is an unexpected terrific blow for you - try to hang on in there - I sincerely trust that it doesn't worsen - easier said than done but do try not to worry or at least until your appointment in April - thinking of you Amanda and sending many huge (((hugs)) to comfort you x

Thank you so much everyone. I was rather fed up yesterday, quite frankly scared stiff that my eyes are being attacked from the outside (by the glaucoma) and from the inside (by the macular). Also a membrane on my eye seems to be getting further developed. They mentioned it at Moorfields a year ago but I'd forgotten about it until the eye doctor said yesterday.. But worrying isn't going to help so I'm going to do my best to be positive and cheerful

Aw, AJ...(((hugs-athon))). Good for you, thinking positively.

Good on you for your positive attitude. I really hope things do not get any worse for you.

Thank you so much Bloden, Newbs and Spiritfree. I had my meltdown about the eye news and now I'm back on top of things. No point in worrying about it - I seem to follow a pattern with bad news about my health ie. 24 hours of feeling sorry for myself and then back to normal 🙂

Must be hard for you to keep having to pick yourself up.
