Flat line glucose - do nothing?

Hi all,

It’s been chaos moving house and I have had a lot of hypos.
My new (this is week only / moving) pattern is a stubborn hypo after tea that lasts hours and doesn’t budge and then delays the rise, and peaks overnight to about 14. My corrective does is also working quicker so I have been taking half the units my pump tells me.

Anyway it works. And now I have a very nice line at 6-7 and I do feel like I will just sit here and do nothing / not eat and enjoy the line for a while or I could have breakfast and start the day with the diabetes fun.

Tonight I will look at my bolus rate, I have already been ignoring any correction in the evening with my meal.

I had my insulin turned off for about 5 hours yesterday.

I know @trophywench you would suggest a temporary basal rate, but I’ve too much on my mind to wrap my head about how to do this on the PDM.

Anyone else on the Omnipod or on a pump with a quick explanation or video you can share that would help.

Thanks

Joys of moving house @PhoebeC

How about taking your bolus dose after you've eaten tea then maybe only half your usual dose then see how that goes. Once your less active & stressed you can revert back to normal.

It probably makes sense to review you basal rates but after your holiday. With all that you are doing at present you will necessarily be firefighting. Temp basal would be helpful so I hope a powder can help with that, but you have found a way round things so enjoy your success and congratulate yourself on managing your D in amongst all that you are doing at present.

Have a good rest and a proper break. We haven’t moved for 40 years, but have helped some friends with theirs and it is exhausting just seeing all that they are juggling.

I presume you are on the Omnipod Dash? If so, it's very easy to put a temp basal on. You can put a temp basal on as a percentage for durations from 30 minutes to 12 hours.

Click on the 3 horizontal lines (top left - menu icon)
You will see "set temp basal" - click on that.
Below you will see Basal rate, scroll up or down to determine how low/high you want it e.g. -25% or +5%
Then below that is "Duration" and you can say how long you want the temp basal to last.
Tap "Confirm" and away you go.

Takes less than 5 minutes. I found it very useful indeed.

I'm now on the Omnipod 5 and Libre 2+ running an HCL and I've not tried to revert to manual mode, just done corrections.

Thanks for the suggestion @PattiEvans sounds easy enough. Currently having quite a bad hypo, I was in and out taking stuff out of the van and didn’t have my phone in my pocket. I must’ve dropped low but was out of range for the alarm and didn’t stop. It’s hard work lifting and moving things around.
Having a rest now, not else to do tonight.

Once I feel back to normal I will give this a go. Thanks
