I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so I hope this is the right area.

After coming across a bulk of comments of fellow Diabetics who, like me, are having to deal with the frustrations of ignorant remarks of people around us, I decided to write a blog post about the five things we want people to know about our condition. It's written from the perspective of a T1, so it might not apply to everyone but I hope this will be useful in some way.

I would really love to spread the awareness as much as I can, so it would be great if people could share this around!

Looks fine but you may want to include genetics and race as factors why some people develop type 2 and not just diet and exercise.

I don't talk about T2 in my post. I am just saying that T1 is an auto-immune disease and T2 isn't. Might be a punctuation thing, will review that 🙂 thank you.

Again, apologies if anything is unclear. As I mentioned in my initial post, this blog post is written from the perspective of a T1 and is about things we want people to know about T1.

I meant to point out that T1 is an auto-immune disease unlike T2 but that is it. Then I am saying that T1 is not caused by diet or lack of exercise as a lot of people seem to think. I didn't mean to say that T2 is caused by these things, so apologies if my punctuation made it seem like I did. It has been fixed now. I'm fully aware that T2 can be caused by other things but that's not what the post is about 🙂

Hope I made it clear. I don't mean to offend anyone with my post.

Good article "uni". Was once flat out in a hypo & heard people saying it was my fault from somebody who thought they new about D ! (ooh !). We need some more education !

Sorry to hear that Hobie, the last thing you want to hear in that situation... I have a colleague who is convinced he had T1 as a child and grew out of it

You might want to look at the statement that "Insulin has since been invented".
It hasn't been invented - its been around for millions of years and mammals have always depended on it. Banting and Best hypothesised about its function 90 years ago but they didn't invent it.

Ironically (just kidding here !) you might argue it is the T1's fault because it is auto-immune - their OWN body attacked and destroyed the beta cell function (JOKING !!).

Oh, of course doh 🙄 thanks for pointing out the embarrassing mistake!

"Insulin injections and insulin pump therapy have since been introduced" hopefully solves that. Next time I post anything I really need to run it by you guys to pick out these silly errors lol!

Hi uni, Yes the first post was clear and you certainly haven't offended me ( whatever type) I understand that it is about Type 1 and I am going to have a look right now. I'm sure your thread will be a very interesting one. Best wishes Sheenax

Thanks Sheena 🙂 I think that's my favourite point as well along with the fact that it's not easy to manage. It seems to be the thing people don't realise often (probably because we look healthy) x
