went well, I'm on metformin, started last night, have lost half a stone since finding out I'm T2 on 2.3.17 (she was pleased with this) more to lose though. Feeling positive about things at the moment. Did have a cry, and again when I got home. She did say I can turn this around so that gave me hope. I'm not testing or anything like that. My reading was 53 from the blood test I had done so brings me in on 7 or under - she said. Feeling hopeful. x

Sounding great, Lorraine. I do recommend getting a meter & testing, despite what the nurse/GP says. That way you will know what you can & can't eat & keep BG under good control. The most recommended meter is the SD Codefree from Amazon or Home Health. Trying to control Diabetes without testing is like driving with a blindfold on.😱

Lorraine.
Sounds like a super appt . Glad it went well x

Nice to read that your appointment went well. I am yet to have my first appointment and am not really looking forward to it so am glad to know they can go well! Sounds like you are making progress so every reason to feel positive.

Well done you. same diagnosis timing as me. I have lost well over half a stone. THIS PLACE has been so supportive! I bought the Code Free Meter from the internet and 250 strips for about £38. You may or may not get support for a test kit from your GP, its a bit of a lottery. However, I find it invaluable as I look at the foods I can eat well those I need to watch and those I have parked in the "Noooo" Box! It also gives you a good |pat on the back" when you find a bit of control and your plan and food/exercise work out. I find TWO miles or so walking or an hour on the bike now and then helps me be stable or if I have a bit of a spike over 8.0! Currently I am managing between 5.0/6.8 through the day which I am pleased with. As mentioned here without regular testing early on you are paddling a boat without a rudder a bit! I AM using a balanced diet watching cards, no spuds or rice or root veg or break or bakery. Love Broccoli and Kale and some beans plus salad stuff. Moved more to fish and chicken than red meat. Trying to reduce cheese! I find three or four small meals in the day keeps me interested in food and sorta works! I am wary of LBHF dieting.
