Morning all. So I used my new meter for the first time thismorning, 9.30 am nothing eaten since night before 8.1 10.15 pre breakfast 8.2 one hour and 2 hour measurements to follow. Hope I have done something wrong! Metformin taken with breakfast after 2nd reading.

Hi Bob1967. I was diagnosed beginning of August 2017. My first reading were like yours. After a few more reading it will start to make sense. All the figures confuse me. Drink 2litres of water per day.
Cheers all the best clive55555

Hi Bob Love the German Shepherd, (miss mine) Cheers clive55555

The effect of Metformin accumulates over time so when you take your tablets only effects you digestion and not your blood sugar reading. Having said that, 3 weetabix will affect your blood sugar levels, it's simply explained here: http://carbs-information.com/cereal/weetabix.htm

I find that one Oatibix or high protein Weetabix mixed with something lower carb doesn't spike me too much.

I've discovered Fuel Protein Wheat Biscuits. Taste exactly like weetabix but half the carbs. Doesn't affect my blood sugar much at all.

Don't worry too much about the readings when you first start testing Bob1967. They settle down after about a month in my case. I always get the highest reading for the day when I first wake up. This is as you probably know dawn phenomenon. I have tried all sorts of things but not managed to crack it yet. Good luck with the testing. I also love your dog, it is so hard when they go isn't it? 🙂

Where did you find those, Mark?

Thank you Happy Dog, yes its devastating, miss her so much. Thanks for the info, don't feel so bad now 🙂

I got them from Asda, but I think most of the larger supermarkets sell them.
I have looked in our local ones and can't seem to see them, but will keep looking, thank you!
