Hi, and welcome to the Forum. Good to see that you've taken positive steps in response to your diagnosis and have signed up to both the Healthier You programme and Diabetes UK. Being at risk of diabetes doesn't mean progression to diabetes is inevitable but it does mean lifestyle changes around diet, being active and (if necessary) losing weight. Depending how deep into the 'at risk' range you are (HbA1c 42-47) you might only have to make a few simple adjustments. Please feel free to ask questions. You'll be getting answers from members who are managing their diabetes day-to-day as well as from those who have managed to get their HbA1c back into normal range from 'at risk' and in some cases from an actual diagnosis of T2 diabetes.

Hello and welcome. One tip I will pass on, is to keep a totally honest food diary. I manage mine with an app which I complete first thing every morning, so my day is planned. It keeps me on the straight and narrow. I am reducing my HbAic by following a reduced carb eating plan (less than 130gm total per day), and I upped my exercise by going to the swimming pool twice a week. I do aquafit, but there are plenty of swimming sessions day and evening.

Welcome to the Forum. I went through this a few years back, got back to normal (albeit the higher side) but unfortunately it has crept up a bit again so am trying to get it back down to normal.

Welcome to the forum @Tombhoy

We’ve had several members who have found the NHS programme really helpful. Hope you get some good pointers from it.

There’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach that will work for everyone so it can be great to have the hive mind of the forum to ask questions and see others’ experiences in developing your own personalised risk-reduction plan, that you can stick to, and which work for you and your particular metabolism, genes, gut biome and all that jazz.

Let us know how you get on 🙂
