away for a work trip I make frequently, usually hanging around the airport my routine would be a large coffee, large sticky bun as I wait for my flight, pig out dinner at the hotel...not to mention a chocolate bar or two for the flight! 😳
I had my little pot of almonds & walnuts and a small apple & found I could sit quite happily with just the coffee. Got to the hotel, went for dinner wondering what I could have, only to find the lovely waiter recognised my two metformin on the table, turns out he was also diabetic! I was able to order outside of the menu to get a lovely plain chicken salad without feeling embarrassed. As we were chatting he was telling me he has lost 31/2 stone over the year he has been diagnosed, he shared how he had changed his diet and lifestyle without too much difficulty and was so positive about everything that it really cheered me up. Lovely man, great example of living well with diabetes :D
