Welcome to the forum @Cobgirl

I did feel very scared at diagnosis as it was so much to take on board.
As I have learnt more and things have settled I am more confident.

There is plenty of experience to tap into on here.
Fire away with any questions that arise.

Welcome to the forum @Cobgirl

I think it’s perfectly natural to feel a little overwhelmed from time to time when living with a demanding long-term condition like diabetes.

In a way it’s great that the decisions we take and the strategies we employ can have such a profound effect on our diabetes and blood glucose management, but with that opportunity can also come a measure of anxiety on the balance between living a ‘normal’ life, and trying to make blood-glucose-friendly decisions as often as we can.

How do you feel things are going for you so far?

Im waiting for my most recent hba1c results, though they’ve taken 2 weeks nearly, so I’m worrying a bit. They said my blood pressure is high but I’ve been able to bring it down quite a lot in the last week or 2. I’m just worrying a lot, but trying so hard to eat properly and I’m also exercising more now too.

Great news about the reduced BP!

Hope your HbA1c result is encouraging when it finally arrives - does your surgery allow you to see your blood test results electronically via ‘Patient Access’ or similar?

Sadly not. I’ll have to wait until the diabetes nurse phones me on Tuesday

Hello and welcome. 🙂

Ah shame! Many surgeries allow it, but I don’t think it’s usually automatic. You often have to ask and/or put your request in writing or fill in a form.

I too was diagnosed Type 2 two years ago. I was very focussed at first, but slipped during these lockdowns. My HbA1c has gone up, as has my BP. So now I'm struggling to get back to a healthy lifestyle and eating pattern. I do worry about what the future will bring if I don't keep on top of things. But this Forum gives great support.
