A little back history,

Was diagnosed beginning of September 19

Hba1C - 77
Weight 130kg
BMI 44.9
Exercise - Sedentary (almost stopped!)
Metformin - 2 tablets twice a day prescribed

Immediately researched diagnosis / diet etc switched to moderate to low (hopefully healthy) carbs of approx 80 - 100g a day and low calorie 1200 - 1500kcals a day. Currently I stick to this using a 16:8 fasting approach with the majority of my calories coming in the early evening (7.00pm ish) during the week and a slightly more spread out approach over the weekend.

October 19
Hba1C - 47
Weight - 119kg
BMI - 41.1
Exercise - 3km brisk walk a day
Metformin - 2 tablets twice a day continuing

Just picked up the results of my latest blood test which I had at the end of last week.

February 20
Hba1C - 34
Weight - 96.1kg
BMI - 33.3
Exercise - 6km brisk walk per day
Metformin - 2 tablets twice a day continuing

As a poster on another forum has said Diabetes is marathon not sprint and I understand I have a lot of work to do to maintain this success but it is very motivating when you see the work you put in pay off with positive numbers. I hope this will be the first of many posts either to celebrate or to seek advice.

Hi Tim and welcome and a huge congratulations on your fantastic achievement. Wow! You need to be a poster boy with those results. I hope you are suitably proud of yourself and that reading your journey encourages other people to follow your lead. Thank you for sharing your results with us.

Well done, that’s fantastic. You must be really chuffed to bits. 🙂

That’s fantastic well done !

WOW you have worked hard with huge dedication, you have inspired me, keep up the good work 🙂

Blooming heck Tim that is astounding, how the hell did you manage that first drop in your HbA1c in one month? Many congratulations x

Brilliant!

Thanks everyone, it has been hard work and I think the initial drop in hba1c was down to me realising just how out of control my diet was. When I look back there was just constant grazing on lots of refined carbs and sugars and as a result switching to 80-100g of reasonably healthy carbs a day made a huge difference for me.

Congratulations Tim, and thanks for a great posting.
It will be a great inspiration to many that follow the threads on this forum, to know that a good diet plan and exercise really does work.
Please keep posting, and any hints and tips you found out along the way will be a big help to others.

Congrats on your impressive progress so far @Tim1966

Look forward to hearing more of your story 🙂
