Firstly all airports accepted my word or my diabetes bag and didn't check it or look at Dr letter. Noticed in the Monarch airline magazine that they have a sharps box on board for needle disposal ( for free!!) Just ring the bell.
No problems except attempting to estimate carbs when eating out evenings. I took a McDonalds and Wetherspoon menu sheet with me as a guide but I think the sauces were the main problem. I had also written out basics like pasta/pizza/chips!! I tweaked my basal by half unit the first week and then another half the second. I don't know why readings are supposed to go down in the heat - mine never have. I think my body uses the insulin up quicker before the food hits my bloodstream. But at least I was not running in the high teens as I did on the mix. Mornings on average 7-9 which really pleased me and only a couple in the high 4s during the day.
Please can someone give me another 2 weeks on the Red Sea so I can confirm my findings as I'm sure it is very reasonable research :D

Glad to hear you had no problems and enjoyed your holiday! 🙂 And that sounds very good and organised by Monarch 🙂

Aaah, you need to combine your research efforts with my DSN and her (T1) husband - they love Egypt !

My DSN has a T1 husband too!!

Sounds like a fab holiday!

Glad you had a fab holiday. FWIW most longhaul aircraft have a sharps disposal in the toilets. In Australia they have one in every public toilet too!
