Hi everyone I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself, I’m in Spain, and think I ate something which has upset my stomach to the point I was throwing up this morning, and since then have had an upset stomach. My diabetes is normally under control. I know I should drink plenty of water and I am, and have also ate 2 Belvita biscs which I’ve kept down. Any other suggestions for food I can buy in as hotel food is awful. Thanks

Any dry plain biscuits or crackers should be good. You could try toast too. Start off on small amounts (even if you feel hungry) to give your stomach a chance to get back to normal. If you can get something like Dioralyte that should help too.

I hope you feel better soon.

I find pineapple juice good for carb and fluid intake with D+V. Surprisingly Coke seems to help with fluid intake. For solids dry toast and Rich Tea biscuits become my mainstay. Good luck!

They sell the Spanish version of Dioralyte in all pharmacies in Spain. Roughly the same price too! Even in the middle of nowhere they speak enough foreign languages to understand the words 'vomit' and 'diarrhea'. And yeah - good ole dead normal full sugar Coca Cola does actually calm the stomach down - but just doesn't do the BG that much good in the short term when you're not hypo!

Dioralyte and immodium are always in my first aid kit with various medications to cover most eventualities but I never usually take the immodium until whatever has upset my stomach had passed through the system but do try to keep the fluids up, little and often.
Funnily enough it is sometimes the bottled water that can upset people as the mineral content is different from the water they are used to at home.
Take care and hope you soon feel better.
