Hi
Not really been posting for a wee while, had a busy few weeks.
I've had the results through for my HBa1C from last week, my first since diagnosis late September. I have went from 8.2 on diagnosis to 5.8% on this result.
All in all I'm quite pleased, I was expecting worse as i haven't had the best start to the year, and working away from home the last month I been living out of hotels and restaurants so been harder to plan meals etc. Still managed to lose some weight butt not as much as I had been.
It feels a relief to know I'm heading in the right direction, and it's made me more determined for what's in front. I've still got a long way to go with the weight loss, but I am going to do it.
The nurse advised that the blood checks would be yearly, but I have managed to get it reviewed again in 6 months. I'm still staying on the metformin and at the 2 x 500mg a day. Not sure how I'd feel about coming off them or reducing the dose, but it was discussed.
The down side is my blood pressure is not really going down, although the nurse did wonder if I had a bit of white coat hypertension. Don't know if I do, but she has requested I get a kit to test at home for a week, although I have to wait on that, so maybe more ramipril for me!
Enough rambling from me. Basically pleased with my result !
Cheers
Graeme
