Hopefully to help me get my head round when and what carbs I should have as a Type 2 on 1g metformin and 3x30 diamicron.

Would it help to know if I am just not producing enough insulin or receptors not working - or both? BMI just under top limit - at last!!!

Fasting BG getting down to 7-8 but bedtime one fluctuating wildly from 10 to 18 (last night) for no apparent reason apart from having dinner at 1pm instead of 6pm and "lunch" snack at 5.30.

Anything I should specifically ask? Normal diet rules ie skimmed milk, sweetners, low fat followed for 10 years+
Many thanks for any advice

I hope things go well for you with the dietician. It does sound unusual that you are getting your higher levels before bed and quite reasonable ones on waking - it's usually the other way around, so I think that you need to dscuss what you are having in the evening that might be causing this. Do you know what your levels are like before you have your 5:30 snack? It could be that it is your 1pm dinner that is raising your levels high and this is simply persisting through the day, so you need to know when those higher levels might be starting from. It does sound like you are following a good diet and have a good BMI now, but clearly there is some sluggish reaction to carbs going on there, whether that is due to insulin insufficiency or resistance is hard to tell.

Let us know how things go!

During the week I don't have cooked meal til 6-7pm and go to bed about midnight. Usually levels +3 over morning which are still very very gradually decreasing. Major hiccup caused by going to the Red Sea early December.

It seems that my body takes 10-14 days to re-act to changes whether it is medication or in this case heat. So just getting over that holiday plus moving up to three Diamicron on 29 Dec. Also started statins 10 days ago.

Just hope to get base line sorted before mid Feb as we are going back to Red Sea then - but at least I know what to expect with BG now. Seems I must start doing more testing at differing time lines. So far no problems getting strips or lancets from Dr.

Well, it certainly sounds like you are learning fast, starting to spot patterns, and great news that you haven't encountered problems getting strips 🙂
