Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you Millie's first day at nursery as quite a big milestone for us, all considered.

DSN had delivered training sessions to the teachers in the time leading up to this and we went for an introductory visit a couple of weeks back. Care plan devised etc

Fruit and milk were out this morning to just graze on which a fair few kids were doing from the moment they got there. Had to stress set time for Millie, still would be digesting breakfast if too early etc. So did BGs a bit later together, Millie keen for mummy to do them rather than these strangers but got around it with me holding her finger and teacher pricking it - all fine. Bolussed after she had eaten so knew for certain what to cover with the insulin (not ideal I know!) Lots of little people watching the event 😱 Stressed nothing else for her to eat after that, not good for her to graze and doesn't know any different anyway (snacks not an everyday occurance at home)

I left after that as she was just shadowing me, and collected her before lunch. She said she had a nice time but was a bit tearful by the time we got home, bit overwhelmed by it all. Been over a year since she was with childminder so big change for her. She did really well. 🙂 Gone for a nap now. Bit overwhelmed myself!!

BGs not too bad at 8.5 pre lunch given snack and delayed bolus.

Tomorrow they are making fondant hedgehogs 😱 luckily to bring home. Advised a careful eye over preparation - sneaky little hands in mouths :D
I will continue to be present for snack until teachers happy to take lead.

Hopefully will all go relatively smoothly for all of us !

Aw, bless her! I imagine there were quite a few tearful little ones after their first day. Well done to Millie and you for getting the routine established right from the start. I'm sure she will come to love going and being with her new friends 🙂

That's lovely to hear! I'm glad Millie had a good time.🙂
