I am due to go to see DN on 24 June for my first review, I am a bit nervous of it. I feel that I have been doing OK, I have managed to keep my BG figures in the single figure range, double figures are getting rare now. The thing is I have developed a fear of needles so any blood tests will scare me but I a hopeful that review will be positive.

When I had my first review, I was terribly nervous and didn't know what to expect. I was told any Dr in the practice could do the review. Appointment made, I duely turned up. Weird doesn't even come close. Very pleasnt GP, I said very little as I didn't know how these things worked. The word diabetes, metformin didn't even appear in our chat. I still sat there, we ended up talking about a book we had both read. 10 mins later I left, thinking what was that all about. Later on I mentioned it to the diabetes Dr in the practice and she just laughed. Still don't know what it was about. To see if I was simply alive??

Wow @rosalindb - you’ve made such amazing progress. You should feel very proud of what you have achieved, and I hope you have a very positive appointment.

Try not to worry about the review. S/he won’t be standing over you brandishing a whip . It’s my guess that S/he will be delighted at your progress , You probably will be too .
It’s a good idea to take a list of questions with you.
If you don’t have online access to your test results, do ask the nurse for a print out .
You would be surprised at how many people have a needle phobia , just let them know just prior to the test .

Hi. Make sure you have your bloods done at least a week before your review and not at the review as you need to discuss the results. Do get access to your surgery online test results so you can go along knowing what they are and can focus on discussing them.
