Fingerprick tests, possibly a silly question...

Any further advice will have to be conducted strictly by PM ! 😉:D

I must point out that a solar powered duck door opening device means neither my partner nor I have to go outside to let them out, and can carry out health checks, and add food and water later.

I wake, shower, and poke before brkfst - prefer to have a reading closer to meal-time.....say, 15-30 minutes prior. If eating out on weekend, could be 1 1/2 hr before first poke. Some days I see DP and others I don't.

Poke must mean something a bit different in USA than in UK? 😱

Birdy let out comes after breakfast and ablutions.

The bigger ones have feed and water overnight now, so we can take some time for ourselves before we need worry.🙂

Honestly, you guys crack me up :D I am also off to the park to get some ducks tomorrow but hope a male Sarah comes with them!!! I do think that telling us that you 'consume your wife' at breakfast time is a little TMI rofl

Was afraid of that.....perhaps test would've been better......I call my meter my "poker"......

😎 It's all in the mind of the reader LW. 🙄:D

I like your name for it. Makes it less clinical and would certainly turn a few heads if referred to in public. :D

I'm another 'test and inject first thing'-er. Do all that, get toddler up and dressed, make breakfast and tea for us (well, no tea for him!) then it's usually about 30mins since humalog so I eat. I've found that's a fairly useful way to stop a massive post-breakfast high. Sometimes, anyway!

Need to be careful if a crisis intervenes. Easy to forget the time and end up having to grab something sugary and sit still while chaos reigns all around ! :D

But can see that you don't always have time to schedule in a break between jab and eat.

Think I must get up later than most, lack of paid work means I can often rise after 8.15am, thus beating the dreaded cortisol? I inject about 15 minutes after getting out of bed and immediately before cereal and tea - not usually a problem (other than when it is - but will it be a hypo or a high, that's the question!)

Just in case you want a vaguely sensible answer, Lady Willpower, park probably has mallard ducks, which aren't the most suited to garden life. I'd suggest muscovies or khaki campbells like we've got (2 Muscovies, 5 K-Cs, plus an old male Aylesbury) - clip their wing feathers on one side so they can't fly off; provide with an ex-plastic sand pit filled with water and house, food trough covered from rain, plus bowl of water. Muscovies are best for hatching eggs, K-Cs for laying them (all over the place!) We got our K-Cs as eggs (arrived in polystyrene box through the post) and put them under a broody Muscovy.

Sorry guys I am just getting back to this, have been feeling really rough lately - the Byetta :( The sickness and nausea is horrendous.

Anyway, I asked this because I mostly always get up, get ready and try to get 2 small children ready, drop them off at childminder/school then get to work on a work day, or home if not, and THEN I eat breakfast.

I have never been able to eat as soon as I get up, too early. Plus half the time I have no time to do anything other than get us all out the house! 😱

My morning numbers are always higher than the rest of the day. I wondered if the above had anything to do with that or not I suppose...or if it should make no difference?

I'm still waiting for the GAD and c-peptide results to come back. Le sigh.

Would be interesting to see if your levels were different straight after getting up. Could be a little dawn phenomenon maybe? Some find their levels continue to rise from the liver until they eat something.

Hope your nausea passes soon.

Tomorrow I shall try to remember to check it first thing....hmmm. I'm not working. I will maybe take my little meter upstairs so I can do it before I even get up, would be curious to know too but never have it near me then - don't like to leave things like that at child height so it's normally away up high on a shelf downstairs!
