Is it just me or does it really hurt when you prick your finger for testing? I've got my thingymagiggy on number 1 setting and it still stings like hell on a stick. I use the side of my finger not the pad but it hurts more there. Just me or isomething this a common thing??

I think some finger prickers are better than others. Which one are you using? The best one I've used is the one that came with my first Abbott meter.

Currently I'm using the one that came with the Spirithealth TEE2 meter I've been perscribed by the gp. Previously I've used the one that came with the code free meter and that was just as bad. Is there a different type I can use that might be kinder or maybe I've just got really sensitive fingers! Lol.

I find the Accu- Chek Fast Clix is kinder Boots sometimes have them on offer, along with the cartridges they take.

That's the same make as the ones I was talking about so it might be worth a try. I believe it's to do with the spring and how it withdraws the lancet after the initial impact.

I use the AccuChek one too. Can recommend it.

The more you finger test the more you will get used to it Hayley - whichever device you use - just look away ~ take a big breath & click the pricker device ~ all done! I didnt like testing at first because it hurt but now its second nature. Remember NOT to use your index fingers or thumbs to test - the nerve endings are very sensitive and they could get damaged. Be brave and click click away! Take care x

I've been testing for almost a year now Hayley...had several meters...doesn't matter which one I used...or where I prick my finger...always hurts me...but...have just got used to it...as @wirralass says 'like second nature' for me now...good luck with the search.

Thanks for all your replies. Looks like I'm just gonna have to suckling it up and take it on the chin. Lol.
