We currently have a one touch comfort finger pricker which is a bit tempremental and can take several attempts [we use 0.33 mm lancets] we are going to the hosp tomorrow to a drop in clinic- anyone used any other kind! finger prickers and would recommend - thanks

Never had any problems with mine, have a chat with hospital, but if you contact the manufacturer they may be able to send you a replacement

Hopefully the clinic can let their available prickers be tried out before you take it, as everyone has different preferences its probably the best way to go......

I hope there are good available....:D

H probably wont come with us to try them out -we are just popping in to talk about holiday ratios -:D

I *love* my Multiclix.

Generally pretty pain free, very easy to use and the 'drum' of lancets allows you to always have a spare or two with you (well at least... when you change them as infrequently as I do!)

I use an Accuchek multiclix too - always have and find it very relieable 🙂

so with the multiclix -are the lancets different to the ones we use now which are BD MICROFINE O.30MM/30G ?

They look like this, they have their own special lancets in the little drum:

They might not give us one of those as they would have to change his perscription etc - 🙂

Well -I have just rang the nurses- and we can have a new multiclix and the meter that goes with it- you have to have both together and they will write to GP to change perscription- is there just one meter that goes with it or one better than another- thanks for all your help

I just poke finger with lancet, never use those new fangled auto pokers. :D

Translated that means I hate em and would rather just use the lancet on it's own. 😉

I have an Accuchek Aviva and a Nano, although I have found the Nano to be a bit unreliable (falsely claims batteries need replacing when they don't). Accuchek actually do a number of 'clix' products - the Multiclix, the Fastclix and the Softclix. I think they all use drums of lancets but don't think they are interchangeable.

You can, of course, continue using your meter of preference.

so which clix would you say is the kindest- the multiclix ? they did say we could carry on using old meter but thought H would think nano was funky!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the only one I have experience of and have found it to be fine 🙂 You can change the depth setting to one that works best with the least pain. I can hardly feel it, and have mine set on 2.

The multiclix is the best device I've used in 20-odd years, and I've used a few. You can use any clicker with any meter, there is no connection between the two, apart from the fact that they are manufactured by the same company. However you may find that the clicker that comes with the meter fits in the case!

I think you should ask for one of these, an Autolet, like I was given in 1989 when I was 9.

NOT!

But seriously been trying to find one of these and also a Youtube of one in action to show people. Plus read what the author says about them in 'Think like a Pancreas'.

Seriously the multiclix is awesome. If you carb count get a Aviva Expert awesome.

Well back from clinic with our new aviva nano and accu check fast click- they had no multiclicks -is there much difference?- Within 5 mins H had got the barrel firmly jammed in the gadget and couldnt get it out!!! methinks this will need abit of practice-they will order us a multiclick if we want -so i will see how this one goes

Oh LOL !

I swore by my One Touch until I got the Multiclix. I never had one of those evil things Marc is on about but they used em at the hospital. They are still using something similar of the Blood Donor place, however they did apologise and explain it's because they need a much bigger globule of blood to do their anaemia test than we do for BGs!

Mine's set at 1.5. Marvellous!

I actually jammed mine not so long ago, husband took it off me, pressed the yellow button with gay abandon and Ping! - it instantly freed up. Hasn't happened since.

The Autolet looks like some kind of torture device. 😱

And I've always found it strange that every lancing device is (according to its manufacturer) more pain-free than all the others. 🙄 😉
