Hi I am about to start testing with my monitor but I don’t know what to look for, from other post you should test upon waking? Then before and how log after a meal? And also what am I looking for? I have just tested and I’m 7.8 and about to have my Sunday roast. Any help would be appreciated

Not necessarily avoid, maybe even just cutting down on how much you have of the offending item on the plate would be enough but you'll build a picture of what you can tolerate as the individual you are, also remember that food isn't the only thing that effects BG so it isn't necessarily always down to that so making a decision after just one trial would be a little too soon xx

I would just add that keeping a food diary including portion sizes of the carb rich food like potatoes and Yorkshire puddings and possibly parsnips too (these being the main sources of carbs in a roast dinner) along with your before and after readings will enable you to spot trends and work out what portion size your body can tolerate. It is very much a case of trial and adjustment and you will eventually get a gut instinct for which foods are causing you the most problems and then you have to decide if they are worth bothering with at a smaller portion size or if you are not really that bothered about them and could cut them out altogether and just increase the portion size of something else on your plate which doesn't cause your levels such a problem.

The usual regime is to test on waking (fasting test) as you won't have eaten or drunk anything overnight, and just before you eat and again 2 hours later. A rise of no more than 3 is good. More than 3 and maybe there was something in your meal that you would want to avoid in future.

That's a fantastic result! 🙂 xx
