Where I've gone off the rails and not tested blood sugars for a good while (being a good girl now)my fingers obviously healed but now im testing 3 times a day since the 7th when I was put on insulin my fingers have become painful and got these circular dry bits of skin on some fingers. Is it a bad idea to use hand cream on them will it interfere with testing?

Cheers

I wouldn't think it would interfere unless you used it shortly before testing. At any rate, I'd wash my hands thoroughly with soap & water.

Thanks Martin
The cream would be to help with the dryness if nothing else my fingers are terrible.

Hi @Ljc cheers for the link and the tip off to have a read now

I alternate my fingers and hands when stabbing and I also use the sides as well as the finger pad so there is more options to jab

I alternate just not onto my thumb as i hear thats bad idea.Yikes I think I'd hit the roof if I did the sides got a preconception thats gonna knack .

The sides of the pads are best as it hurts less.

I use hand cream after I test. I walk everywhere and that drys my hands out so they make them look 50 years older than the rest of me. Just means you need to wash your hands more before testing x

I've found I can't get any blood out of the sides, the pad of my little finger works best for me. I've had to ignore advice! Felt quite guilty. 🙂 My hands are really dry, I lather the hand cream on at night and sometimes wear thin gloves in bed to keep it on but then I don't bother with cream in the day, I couldn't be bothered and I hates being sticky.
