Hello to all i'm prediabetic and have been for the last 2 years i'm 67 with a mmol/mol of 42 which isn't that bad for my age. when diagnosed i sat up all night (most nights) searching for reason i.e. comparing stats with every online health service available looking for sombody to say they had got it wrong -- until i had no fingernails left or right i sat at that computer like some sort of neurotic code breaker at Bletchley Park . In the end i gave up looking for reasons and excuses because there isn't one unless you have a medical condition or its hereditary or genetic. I only have myself to blame and the society i live in overstressed-- under excersized -- eating rubbish-- procesed food-- takeaways -- trans fats--sugar - carbs ect ect . Am i depressing everyone ? -- The secret is out look after yourself eat proper food de stress be happy excersize if you can - drink water not fizz and speak to your DOCTOR on medical issues not the web or mr AI-- this is just my story and views; everybody is different with different social and medical issues and i dont mean to offend any one with my rambling-- good health to all of you

Hi @Ged and welcome to the forum, would say more, but I'm told my low carb dinner is ready, but you have summed up what most of us have done when first diagnosed.

Alan 😉

Once you get to grips with a new way of eating which is being careful of the amount of carbs and hidden carbs and those aren't just sugar you will realise you can still have filling tasty meals.
I followed the principals in this link and reduced my HbA1C from 50 to 42 in 3 months and to below 40 in another few months where it has remained for getting on for 3 years. It is my new way of eating. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Mmmm, nice. I still dream of a steak and kidney pudding with mash and gravy, followed by Apple pie and custard. Sorry for that 🙄
