So this one is a bit weird, but..,
For several years now I have been following the antics of a YouTuber who goes by the name of Foodie Beauty.
Why? Mainly because she is an absolute car crash of a person and frankly it’s endlessly fascinating to watch someone go through life making preventable mistake after preventable mistake. Don’t feel bad for her btw - she is a truly terrible human (animal abuse, drugs, using people, constantly lying, grifting, faking being a Muslim to entrap an husband - the list goes on and on!) but that’s a looooooong story to go through. Textbook narcissist.
The other reason is that she is also a type 2 diabetic, and the way that she deals with it… well, it’s a spectacular disaster. She just will not take good advice (narcissists can’t) and her health is deteriorating rapidly. I do have sympathy for her health circumstances, but that runs somewhat dry when you see her binging 8000 calories in one day (yes really) and throwing full on tantrums about having to cut out her beloved fast food (she never will). There’s a point where you have to take personal responsibility for what goes in your mouth; she simply will not - it’s everyone else’s fault but hers. It blows my mind.
If you want to know how to deal with diabetes, watch Foodie Beauty and do the exact opposite to what she does.
Sounds crazy, but the daily dose of chaos with her is inspiring me to do better for myself. Is that a bad reflection on me? Probably! But, I guess when you’re trying to have a real impact on your health & lifestyle, sometimes someone showing you the pitfalls of not taking it seriously is a form of inspiration you should take. It’s an extreme way to remind myself why I am doing what I am doing, I guess. But, every day I can be proud that I am taking it seriously and that I will not end up that way she is going without a damn good fight!
