after a long 3 weeks of infection i went to the doctors this morning and am glad i did as my prostate is knack and also where my catheter goes in to my abdomen it is only flaming leaking urine so i am been referred back to urology.

not sure what will happen in respect of the above but boy has it been a rough 3 weeks. another course of antibiotic has been prescribed then it is waiting to hear from urology.

next week i am getting the telecare system installed this will give me some relief as i suffer with bad dizziness and am at risks of falling.

a care package has been put in place but it is the wrong sort for my needs so will be addressing it sometime in the morning.

at least i am slowly getting there now. bet my diabetes has been going absolute haywire over the last weeks.

Hi. You have my sympathy. I had a supra-pubic catheter for 3 months when my prostate grew so big it blocked my urine flow. It was inserted well and I never had a problem with it. I was lucky in one respect that my need was prostate size reduction and not cancer treatment. Obviously I know nothing about your circumstances but I finally had a Holmium laser OP which basically removes most of the Prostate. It has been 100% successful. It's a fairly modern treatment which MUST be done by an expert. Mine was done privately but it is available on the NHS in some areas.

Hi @mikeydt1,

So glad that you were able to get to the doctors, it sounds as though you have a lot going on health wise.

Were you able to address your concerns re the care package?

It's understandable that your diabetes would be out of whack at a time like this but as long as you're doing your best to monitor things and taking steps to improve then you're still on track.

Dave i think they will opt for a larger catheter but then they would still have to perform whatever with where it goes in. the prostate should of been dealt with years ago but was left so i then continued to have endless repeat infections. not sure what will happen in respect.

Hello Cherrelle it was a temp care package which i wasn't told about and knew the company who do it. i have spoken with their manageress and she is putting in for a request that i get what is called half care half help with tasks which would make my life a lot easier.

feel nice and clean at long last not nice when you struggle with basics esp when you are not so well. feel like things are now beginning to move in the right direction.

That's good to hear. 🙂
