Hi guys,

So a month since my high result for fasting glucose test, I had a blood test last week and today got to see a nurse who diagnosed me as type 2. I'd suspected from my readings but am glad I know for sure now and can just get on with it all!

She was really friendly and helpful and was pleased with my progress so far so is happy I try and control it with diet and exercise (which is what I'd hoped for!) She was impressed by how much I'd already learnt so a big thank you to all of you as I've learnt so much from this forum! 😱

She also gave me a new glucose monitor as she thought it was simpler than the one I had (to be hnest mine is pretty simple but hey a new toy!) :D She prescribed me the strips and lancets which I'm really pleased about as I know some peeps struggle to get them.

One thing she did say is as I'm 27 she was going to talk to the team at the hospital to see if I should be tested for another type of diabetes. She said something about type that involves the immune system...anyone any ideas? Is it the 1.5 I've seen?

Thanks x

Hi daisymoo, good to hear you have such a supportive nurse! They may be testing you for Type 1/1.5 as you are relatively young for Type 2 and in some people the symptoms may appear the same for some time - good to hear they are considering it 🙂

Thanks for the information guys! I'm very grateful to have a good nurse 🙂
