Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello all. I am having an issue with my big toe and was wondering if it could be part of being diabetic or something else? It’s been going on for about 2 months. It’s a painful burning sensation on the top part of my toe and slightly on the outside of the toe. There is not redness or wounds in that part of the foot. I’m type 2 and take 18 units x 2 daily of insulin. My last Hba1c was 54. I am loosing weight with the help of medication for diabetes and am down a stone in the last 6 months. Slow progress but am trying. Thanks for any input.

Is there any evidence of a fungal infection in your toe nail as that can made the toe tender. Could it be pressure from your shoes.
May be best to get it checked out but not everything is directly diabetes related. If it is a couple of months then see someone.
If it is a fungal infection applying Vick twice a day will help, that is what the podiatrist told me, better than any of the paint on expensive stuff

No infection as far as I can see. I will put some Vicks on just in case. Better safe than sorry. Thank you for your input.
