Hello, does anyone relate to have an uncomfortable feeling in your lower legs and feet at night. I am newly diagnosed, am controlling it via diet at moment. Lost 2.5 stones and blood sugars at 44 (down from 61). I am finding it a challenge tho re heat/tingling in aforementioned areas. Is this normal? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I should ask your GP about that if I were you. Sounds to me as if you've had far too high blood glucose for quite a long time, and it's affected the nerves in lower legs/feet - peripheral neuropathy. Good new if it is that, is the nerves are able to repair themselves. Only trouble with that it - they hurt while they're doing it.

However I'm absolutely not medically qualified and anyway, your doc needs to examine your tootsies and check the feeling in your toes, before he can tell you if it's that or anything else. When are you due back to see him and have they referred you to the retinal screening service?

Thank you. I will make an appointment with GP to discuss and see what she recommends. I've had eyes tested and they're fine. The heat/tingling has only happened recently and is not every night but it is worrying/uncomfortable when it occurs. Thanks again.

Congratulations on your great HbA1c reduction @Selbie2626 - and your weight loss too 🙂

Good to hear you are getting your eyes regularly checked, and glad they are all clear.

Hope you get to the bottom of your leg and feet pain and can get some relief.

Thank you, having diabetes has definitely been a motivator to me eating more healthily. The weight loss is a bonus and, of course, no meds too so result! I just hope my nerve endings repair as Jenny suggests.
