Relationship to Diabetes

hi. So those that know me know I have huge anxiety problems. Especially around my diabetes.

Well, I finally got to see a councillor about it last year. I thought it happened helped, but I do genuinely seem less anxious about my diabetes.

I still test and look after them, and try and problem solve when things go wrong. But I don't let it worry me or get to me. In general I feel a lot more confident, and I'm not panicking every time my sugars go above 10 and over injecting so I put myself in a hypo.

It's been a year since I finished the counselling, and I'm still a lot more relaxed and less anxious about it. I'll always be an anxious person, that's not going to change. But I'm controlling the anxiety.

I'm studying my masters in screenwriting and it's a very intense course but amazing. I am loving every moment of it.

I'm feeling very loved and supported by people around me. I've got the negative people out of my life where I could get them out.

Oh, with the mobility, I have something called Ehler Danlos Syndrome. So it's not MS (thank goodness).

So, yeah, feeling pretty good. And for the first time in my life I'm actually feeling in control. I don't feel like my diabetes is controlling me.

Wow how lovely to hear. Its actually quite moving, go you!

Its also amazing how good you feel when you lose those negative people, lifes to short with wasting it on those who aren't worth it x

Great to hear the counselling has helped you with your anxiety and you're doing well, also, studying a masters is no mean feat for anyone 🙂

Lovely to hear this, Ambersak, you should be proud of your achievement 🙂

That's just fantastic, thank you for sharing

I'm really pleased for you.

You couldn't have said this as a better time - with our 'Arry opening up about his counselling - it's very much in the news, which I'm pleased about. Anything that helps folk talk about their probs is brill in my book. It helped me understand a lot more about myself as well as identifying what I needed to get rid of, when I had mine - and I'm still a bit gobsmacked about some of it to this day! LOL
