Past few days I've started with a cold, banging head & pain round my eyes.

As some of you know, I went out with my mate drinking last night.

After 2 cocktails my bloods were high (my highest was 19.9 but that was 20 mins after eating)

I got them back to 8 & then went clubbing, I was on water all night but this morning I felt rotten & my bloods 4.2 at 7.33 & they shot up to 16.6 by lunch

I've got them back down & now 5.7

Are the high bloods due to cocktails or could it be coz I feel so yucky?

I shall never drink cocktails again *sob* but I may now design diabetic friendly cocktails

It's probably the bug. 😉

It's probably the bug. I've been drinking cocktails for nearly 30 years :D and I've never let diabetes stop me from doing that - they're far too nice (I've been diabetic since I was 2)

hope your feeling better soon.

I agree on the taste front.
How do you carb count them or do you just go with guess work?

Me too! I've woken from a nap & am hypo but now can't breathe out of my nose :s

Guess work if it's a short cocktail then allow one unit bolus, if it's tall two units. Check my BGs c once an hour and correct if necessary. Possibly slightly less insulin if I'm dancing. No bolus for wine or lager - lager does tend to send my BG down

Ooohh your lucky with lager, mine seems to go up but with wine not much change.

Am thinking to stick to spirits (not as much fun as a mojito but no insulin to take)

sorry to hear that hope you get rid of the bug soon. My numbers have been high last few days, drink and eating whilst not thinking! hadn't seen a 20 for an age!

Take care,

Rossi

Thanks, my waking bloods have been bad since I split my glargine but this morning I can't get them back under control.

I hope the food was good & that your bloods go back to normal

Past few days I've started with a cold, banging head & pain round my eyes.

There really is a terrible bug going around Laura.
I have had it for 11 days now and still no sign of it giving in.
Stinking cold, banging head like never before, eyes, face, jaw neck and shoulders so painful and now cough and chest.

Make sure you keep warm and lots of drinks.

I hope you feel better soon, and if you find anything that helps, please give me a shout!:D

Oh yippee, why do diabetics seem to get everything?

I'm thinking pain killers, hot chocolate & sleep.

Hope you feel better soon lucy
