Hi

Feeling down went to see the dietitian today, got to see the doc tomorrow the nurse next week, just feels like it`s never ending. I`ve just felt so tired for the last few days, sometimes I think I need some match sticks just to keep my eyes open. Is this normal could it be the 500mg a day of Metformin, could it be something else. Really am having a hard time getting round this.

Muzzie,

Hi sorry to hear your feeling down it happens to the best of us, diabetes has a nasty habit of opening up all of someones emotions good or bad,I think im guessing right your newly diangnosed?it can be hard at the start your head is spinning and your wondering what on earth is going on things do get easier slowly but surely, dont try and take everything in at once little bits at a time give yourself the time to get your head around your diagnosis. The tiredness could be many things, one thing that could be checked is your thyroid levels?that causes real tiredness of course I dont know what your daily activity is, are you under pressure in your job maybe? x

Hi Muzzie sorry to hear you are feeling down :( I can certainly empathise with you as this is just how I felt at the beginning - very 'medicalised' by all the endless appointments. Things will imrpove! It can take a little while after diagnosis to start to feel the benefts of your medication and diet/lifestyle adjustments, but hopefully you will start feeling better soon 🙂

Hi Muzzie and I'm sorry you're feeling a bit down at the moment. It can all seem a bit much in the early days, especially when you're feeling tired all the time and a bit overwhelmed by it all. The tiredness is most probably due to high leves still rather than the Metformin. You are still on a very low dose and should be prepared for an increase soon. Not necessarily, but maybe. Are you testing your levels yourself or have you been told not to bother like most Type 2's these days? If you are testing, what are your levels like? XXXXX

Hi

Just been to the doctors, I think your right the tiredness is due to high levels bg and not the Metforin. I`am a bit mad been told no need to bother self test as I`am type 2, then in the next breath he tell me he should be able to get me a meter on prescription + 1 pot of strips for occasional use , have word with the nurse when you see her next week wants going on ?

Hi Muzzie
Sorry to hear you are a little low and confused, i would say book in to see your nurse and ask for a meter and test strips some will give them to you, depends on what your nurses are like there. mine are pretty good.
Feel free to ask any question no matter how small, we have all been there and i have had loads of help and good advise in here, i would be lost without this forum, they become close to a family 🙂
It may not seem like it at the moment but things do get better.
Hope you feel better soon x
