Been on metformin for a week now. 4 a day. But today I'm feeling very dizzy n my vision is distorted and I feel very sick. Is this normal? Xx

Have you tested your BG? (I think I saw you in another thread say you had purchased a monitor?)

11.3 is high but not off the scale. It is probably the effects of the metformin kicking in as it can take a couple of weeks to settle down and it does cause nausea in some people. If it carries on I'd recommend you phoning the surgery if only to put your mind at rest.

Thank u very much xx

try to drink more water to get your bp up a little bit more if it drops down any more then ring 111 for advice

Is that normal blood pressure for you as for some people that would be quite low.
It would be more usual to introduce metformin gradually so 4 a day from the start may be why you are feeling nauseous. I would check with your Dr that he meant you to start with 4 a day straight off. Make sure you are taking them with food as the tummy discomfort may be lessened.

Good point @Leadinglights, I was started off on 2 a day for 3 weeks, then put up to 3 a day for that very reason!

Hope you are feeling better now @Hayleykjjt

Might be worth giving the Helpline a call (number at the top of the page)
