Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Diagnosed 4 November 23, managed to lose 7kg but now stalled. Souch conflicting advice that I just don't know what to believe. Keto is a no go for me but lower carb is possible. Many of the recipes on here include potatoes, wholewheat pasta etc, my diabetes nurse specifically said no potatoes, bread, rice or pasta. I just don't know how low carbs should be, and I'm being overtaken with feeling scared about food. Can anyone suggest a way forward, please?

Don't forget the recipes on the DUK site are not just aimed at people who are Type 2 or 'at risk' but those who are Type 1 or on insulin and can eat fairly normally as they can take the appropriate dose of insulin.
Low carb is suggested as being no more than 130g carbs per day but it is not NO carbs. You can still have some carbs but make your choices carefully, choose ones which have value for enjoyment and flavour rather than the 'empty' carbs which are often just carriers for other foods.
This link has recipes and menu plans based on the suggested no more than 130g per day but even so portion control is important. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Recipes in the Caldesi books or one I have Keto Kitchen are good or the Pinch of Nom books. But you can just do an internet search for low carb recipes with the base ingredient you want.
My principal was not to have 2 carby veg in any one meal, so if I have peas I wouldn't have parsnips but broccoli, I have butternut squash instead of potatoes, I use edamame or black bean pasta rather than wheat based pasta. So you can use recipes you like but make some substitutions for a less carby component.
As you are in the prediabetic range then some modest changes should be all that is needed. Certainly cutting out cakes and biscuts unless home made low carb ones, sugarfreelondoner web site has loads recipes, and sugary drinks including fruit juice is needed.
Sorry for the rambling on.
