Hi guys

Have lowered my ratio of bolus to 1:10g carb.
I'm getting results varying between a 2-4 mmol increase two hours after meals using this ratio

However, after my meal within about twenty mins I feel awful! Really bad headaches.
Could it be that this dose is still too high and I am causing a low followed by a liver dump?

I really don't know other than these headaches hurt!

Hi Megan, all I can offer is a (((HUG))) to keep you going until someone gives you a proper answer.

Thanks leelee. I just really want to know why I feel so awful after food.

Sorry, I can't offer an answer either... my sugars at the mo can be as high as 15 at bed time, then a hypo at 2am and I get really bad headaches in the night but I'd be surprised if you were having a hypo only 20mins after food? I don't have a logical answer though... could the headaches be related to what you are eating rather than your diabetes? My friend gets the worst headaches when she eats strawberries, and took her ages to work it out! xx

I don't think it's a food type as it is after almost every meal and I eat a varying diet.

I'm baffled

So what is your BG at this moment of feeling awful?

Just wondering if you have a mega quick spike and it's that, which would mean you need to inject up front instead of immediately before eating .....

My bg around that time has prob gone up to 6-7.
I'm eating as low GI as I can to avoid said spikes

Well - try injecting before you sit down to eat anyway - try 10-ish minutes and see if it makes any difference?

How long has this been happening Megan?

Are you sure it's connected with the insulin/meal dose or could it be something else entirely?

Personally I think it's quite unlikely that you are crashing down then back up again without noticing it.

If you want some more data, I guess you could test every 30 minutes perhaps?

Or even just inject *after* eating for a few evenings. Your post meal spike will be much greater, but at least you'll be able to observe the scenario without the insulin dose.

I've had high-ish levels all day today. So I think as these symptoms are only recent that maybe I'm just coming Down with a head cold :(
