High blood sugar can make you feel pretty rough. I hate being high for that reason. Anything over 9 or so starts to make me feel rubbish.

You should be having your thyroid tested when you have your diabetes blood tests. I have mine checked every year. It’s because we’re at slightly higher risk of thyroid problems. Maybe you could ask about that when you next speak to your team?

If you’re having particular problems eg feeling sick, feeling dizzy, etc, etc, keeping a diary of them can help work out if there’s any pattern or obvious cause. So write down the symptom, the time, then your blood sugar and anything else relevant. If it carries on, speak to your GP. It might well be nothing, but anything that goes on for a length of time is usually best checked out.

I hope you feel better soon. It’s miserable not feeling 100%.

Can your gp not give you cyclizine. I get this on repeat for nausea, or some other anti-sickness. medication?

What a constructive suggestion---thank you. I HAD wondered what is an appropriate med. for the nausea. It would help to be able to eat--currently losing weight hand over fist...and was skinny to begin with! Unless it's contra-indicatied due to clashing with existing stuff, he should prescribe it. Shall ring him today. Thanks again.

Hi @CHRIS HAZELGROVE . You mentioned you are losing weight hand over fist.
Is it or was it unexpected and that you were thin to start with .
I am just wondering if you may not have T2 but another type instead.

Certainly it's unexpected weight loss. I have never been over-weight---(was very shocked when I was told I am diabetic!) Current weight loss is quite dramatic, and due, I'm sure, to nausea--being unable to face food.Thank you for your suggestions.

T2 is mostly diagnosed via age, lifestyle and or being overweight ( their are some slim T2s) I was originally diagnosed this way yrs ago .
Some doctors and nurses do not know that T1 can develop at any age and some have never heard of my type.

Since your diabetes diagnosis have they ever done these tests
C-peptide , this measures the amount of insulin the pancreas produces.
GAD antibody test, this measures the amount of certain antibodies that you have that are attacking the beta cells in your pancreas.

The Hb1ac as I am sure you know can’t detect which type of diabetes you have .

Please bear in mind I am no medic it’s just that when you mentioned weight loss and you being skinny sounded alarm bells .

With all the symptoms you have mentioned I think you need to speak to Gp ASAP they may or may not be related to diabetes and also about getting tested to determine which type you have , this may require a refferal to the diabetes clinic at the hospital.

Please let us know how you get on.

I am so grateful for this, Ljc. How kind to take the time to try to help me with my situation. I AM feeling a the end of my tether: please may the forthcoming week when I can talk to the diabetes nurse or doc, provide some light on the issue. I am grateful to all who are concerning themselves with this.

Never tried it, but my late mum would nibble on a ginger nut biscuit to quell nausea. Awful feeling i know but from what you are describing you definately need to see a doctor even if you need to go to A&E. Been there got the t-shirt feeling suicidal when there is no let up from the pain. Pancreatitis is my nemesis along with a long list of co- morbidities. But am still here to tell the tale. Hope you get sorted as soon as.

I can cope with a ginger biscuit. Thanks for that---(well done Mum, as ever!)
Today's another day of (ill-informed) effort to find a solution. But better armed than before I appealed on this forum.

I noticed you are Type 2. Are you testing your blood glucose?
If so, what are your readings? Are they high?
If you're not testing them it might be worth asking your GP to test you.

That does sound worrying for you Chris. Unexplained weight loss can be caused by all sorts of things, and really needs to be checked out. Are you weeing a lot and thirsty too? That might add to the concerns over your diabetes classification.

Whatever it is, I really hope you can get checked out and get to the bottom of things.
