Hi Gussypoo, welcome to the forum 🙂 It does seem a while to have to wait for your appointment, but you can do things now that will hopefully help to reduce your blood sugar levels - the chief reason why you are having to make all those trips to the loo! I'd recommend that you get hold of a book that explains the GL diet (Glycaemic Load). This explains what foods to eat so that your blood sugar levels are lower and more stable - you can find some examples in the 'Recommended Books' section of this forum. Basically, you need to replace any highly processed or sugar-loaded foods with healthier equivalents, so white bread is out, but seeded granary bread is in, try to keep away from biscuits, cakes and sweets as the most obvious things for now until you have seen the doctor and dietician.

If you have any questions, please ask away - there are no 'silly' questions here! 🙂

Hi Gussypoo, welcome to the forum.

😱 thanks for the welcome everyone..... now getting used to the taste of diet juice tho the diet coke is still a struggle.....
unfortunately the prednisolone still having an effect on my appetite nothing sacred in the fridge so the wife has hidden all the biscuits and crisps.

Hi gussypoo - steroids cause an increase in your BMs - hence the Drs comment - and if you have been taking them for a while the other blood tests will indicate poor bm control.

What happens is that when your BMs are higher than about 10 (varies person to person but that is the average) glucose starts appearing in the urine. Your kidneys are working hard to remove the excess from your blood stream and this can cause dehydration. So you need to keep yourself hydrated.

Take care of yourself and have a look around the site - there will be lots of threads that you will find informative.
