£35 for four won't be £9 for one person on their own though. You always end up paying more gram for gram when you buy smaller quantities of stuff.

Yes, that tends to be my problem. There are a lot of things I simply don't buy because they work out too expensive for the amounts I could actually use.

I know and joints of meat are the bane of my life. They had some absolutely FAB looking rib of beef in Tescos the other day - I asked the butcher how much he was charging for his beef chops - £22 a kilo I think and ONE chop was over a kilo.

I wouldn't begrudge paying it but how many days would YOU want to eat it and if you slice it cooked and freeze it, well it's just not that great when you have it again, is it?

Other cuts and meats are pretty similar really. Big ones cook better and go further as there is less waste and shrinkage. Far easier to cater for 4 than 2, so one must be equally frustrating.

When ever possible I do my best to support Britain. Have just got a "Nissan" built along the road 😎 Its good

OK but what (TF) has that got to do with feeding a family for £9 a week?

I still don't follow the logic Hobie.

That usually isn't possible anyway for families who don't have much dosh and live in inner cities. Do the Indian supermarkets all along the Coventry Road, Stratford Road etc in Brum the Foleshill Road in Coventry etc etc, all source their stocks of veg - not the exotic ones obviously - from British farmers - would the wholesalers they use source stuff here? Is it cheap enough?

Where do you suggest I myself might source fresh farm veg even if it does cost a bit more? - we don't have a farmers market. There is a decent market still in Nuneaton two days a week but once you've driven there and paid for parking it's neither cheap nor Eco-friendly really!
