So after having hba1c of 133, 3days before lockdown, and taught to administer insulin via a zoom call, I'm getting so fed up. Insulin changed numerous times and now taking 32units of levemir a day and 1unit per 5g carbs and 4xCreon 25000 to keep anywhere near around readings of 14. After lately my reading rising to 28/29 even though I've not eaten and having to use Sick day rules to gain some sort of control, I'm now diagnosed with gastroparesis. Am doing all I'm supposed to. When does this get any better? Haven't physically seen a diabetic consultant face to face since march 2020.

Hi Tattoogirl I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling so much. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis 11 years ago and although it can be a struggle you will be able to find a way to work through it. I find having an insulin pump a huge advantage for helping with the blood glucose fluctuations caused by gastroparesis - but it does involve very careful carbohydrate counting. If you search the forum for "gastroparesis" and then posts by AJLang you should be able to find out more about how I've dealt with it BUT from my experience people deal with it in different ways. If I were you I would push for a diabetic consultant who also specialises in gastroparesis. Originally for me that meant appoints at a hospital an hour away by bus but I'm fortunate that I now have someone at my clinic who also knows about it.

Hello Tattoogirl.
It sounds as if you are suffering from a complete and utter lack of support :(
If your blood sugars are high without eating then you need more Levemir.
As a matter of interest how were you diagnosed with gastroparesis? If it was via a phone consultant then take with a huge pinch of salt.
There is no reason what so ever not to have a face to face consult with a consultant or a proper DSN (not the local practice nurse)

I had a gastric emptying test done 2 weeks ago which has diagnosed this. My levinir started at 8 units and is now at 20 am and 10units pm. I just wanna feel relatively normal without pain when I do eat.
