I phoned this morning to make an appointment with the nurse and find I have to wait a week for it. It is for my diabetes review, so OK I'm not going to die.

They phoned this afternoon for me to see a doctor on wednesday (this week), but I am at work I say what is the earliest or latest I can have. The earliest is 9.45, the latest is 1.30. I'm like well I work full time so I can't make appointments in the middle of the day. So they want to know where I work so I tell them St. Pancras Station and you obviously don't use public transport because it is a two hour journey each way.

Anyway I now have an ppointment for the doctor (it's a locum) next wednesday at 11.55 (I am off next week) and withthe nurse on the 11th at 6.50 because the nurse is o n holiday next week.

I will keep the two appointments unless they are changed in the mean time and then change doctors because I am (several naughty words) withthe treatment/service I get.

Signed cross and fed up of South London

Hi Caroline lovely to see you posting, sorry you have had such a headache though I go through the same with my docs even for my son I rung to make an appointment on the 21st May earliest he can be seen is 1st June grr.

I do hope you enjoy your week off next week and the appointments go well

Is it worth going down the route of changing surgeries?

Our GP appointments system is hopeless too. Have to call on the day from 8am, all appointments gone by 8.30 ... After failing to get appointment twice last week, receptionist asked me if I could see a nurse instead. She was v.good in fact so I was happy with that. But if I wanted to book ahead for a GP, it would be at least 2 weeks wait. Luckily I work from home so I can call at 8am, but most people already on the way to work by then ... time GPs organised their services to suit people's lives really ... like evening and weekend surgeries 😛

What annoys me about my surgery is that, if you ring at 8 am, quite often you will get an answer machine which is pointless for booking appointments, and sometimes you have to redial several times before someone picks up. This means that I have to pay for several pointless calls to an answer machine - I know it's only a few pence, but I'm a Yorkshireman and hate wasting money! 🙂

I am going to have these two appointments and change surgeries. Last week I had a chest infection, It was going to be two weeks before I could get an appointment so I went to the drop in centre. I expected to wait for a couple of hours but I went in, saw a very nice doctor, got prescription and was out again before the pharmacy had opened. The antibiotics have happily worked and as soon as I have had the two appoinments I will change surgeries nd register with the drop in centre

Sorry to hear that you are having such a rotten time with the doctors and that you've had the chest infection. I'm sending lots of sympathy to you.

Sorry to hear you are having such a time of it (((hugs))).

Wow, I must be the luckiest patient going then. I can not believe the problems people have in getting apts. 😱

My surgery allows you to ring in at 8.30am, You have your own registered Dr to book with. If an emergency you have the pleasure of the duty Dr who fits you in between his own patients. This happens morning and afternoon surgeries. You can also book 2 months in advance for routine apts, and best of all you can also book on line. There is also 2 evenings a week when surgery runs until 8 pm.
