On Insuman Basal now for seven weeks, gradually increasing dosage every 4/5 days by two units. My fasting level gradually came down and I had several weeks when it was down at the level the nurse wanted it to be. Then it went back up, no change in diet, keeping to the same levels so no reason for this that I could see. It stayed up for over a week, then came down again, and yesterday my daytime figures were the best ever. This morning, the level was where it was before I began the insulin journey. Trying to get to talk to my nurse can take days, so thought I would start here with the experts. I am not prone to being a pathetic weepy person, but could throw the whole lot out this morning and give up, and weep.
Any advice? Thank you.

Diabetes can be a pain in the posterior @Ditzyoldme Dont let it get to you.

When are you taking the Insuman?

Before evening meal as directed by nurse

It’s strange that your levels have been up and down. I think I’d rule out any obvious causes eg ‘old’ insulin, hormones (if appropriate), etc

But sometimes levels can vary for no apparent reason, which is frustrating.

Bear in mind there are many things which can affect our blood sugar levels like stress, illness, weather, exercise, ...
This chart shows 42 things but I suspect there are more

Excuse this question if it is not appropriate but, if you are female, have you noticed a monthly pattern to your blood sugars?

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time @Ditzyoldme Diabetes can be frustrating and fickle at times.

Hope your levels have settled down a little since. And that you’ve managed to get hold of your nurse for an update.
