The death of a Midland dad who was refused life-prolonging NHS treatment will not be in vain, friends and family said last night.

Adrian Ashby?s brave battle against cancer ended when he died at the age of 50 last month in Birmingham?s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

He had contracted the rare Carcinoid Syndrome, and had tumours throughout his body.

Shopkeeper Adrian, from Alcester, Warwickshire, was desperate to live long enough to see his son get married but tragically failed to make the big day.
