A GRANDFATHER and grandson are celebrating having both been honoured with volunteering awards from Diabetes UK.
Brian Spittle, from Stourport-on-Severn, who is treasurer and secretary of the Kidderminster (Wyre Forest) Diabetes UK group, accepted the Local Group and communities award, alongside Fred Holland, chairman of the group.
At the same ceremony, Brian’s grandson, Adam Stock, 20, from Worcester, was announced the winner of the Fundraising award. Adam, who has Type One diabetes like his grandfather, racked up an impressive five half marathons from July to October last year, raising £1,750 for Diabetes UK.
The volunteers were honoured at the charity’s regional Inspire Awards, held in the Radisson Blu Hotel at the East Midlands airport.
