So after lunch I'm often so tired I fall asleep, then hungry again more than I used to be.
Is this a blood sugar thing, did any of you get it and how did you fix it? I have prediabetes.

How high is your blood sugar going when you’re getting this tired? Unless you’re really old you shouldn’t be falling asleep after lunch.

I'm in my early 40s. I don't know, do I need to get a finger prick measuring thing? I've only had the h1abc test which was 43 so prediabetes.

It’s up to you. If you want to find out of falling asleep is caused by your blood sugar you’ll have to test it to find out. Otherwise all you can do is ask your GP what it could be caused by.

Ah I'll look into it thanks
There are a few monitors that are inexpensive that can be bought on line, the GlucoNavii, TEE2 and Contour Blue are ones with the cheaper test strips.
Even a prediabetes diagnosis makes it worth reviewing your diet as many people feel they eat healthy but it may not be so good when the body is showing signs of struggling with carbohydrates.
This link may have some suggestions that suit you and you could adopt for a lower carb lunch and see if that helps with your tiredness. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Staying hydrated and maybe getting some fresh air for a short time rather than sitting after eating.

Probably linked to your pre-diabetes. Going up over 10 can cause tiredness (And dehydration) if it stays there a long time. As can being over 7.8 for long periods of time, but it's milder. Pre-diabetes sees (Generally) fasting glucose being in the high sixes and post-meal glucose going up towards 10, and staying elevated for a longer period of time.

Low GI and a walk should definitely help bring those peaks down.

Might be worth reading this? I only say this because I know someone who said same thing and they had reactive hypoglycemia of which extreme tiredness after eating is the symptom they had. Just a thought. Best speaking to a Doctor.

Good point. That can happen early in type 2 diabetes as well, as there's an exaggerated insulin response due to insulin resistance.
