Researchers from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the Department of Sociology in University College Cork (UCC) have identified a number of factors which cause psychological distress in young adults with type 1 diabetes. They also discovered that patients feel frustrated over not having access to psychological support; something which patients believe can moderate this diabetes-related stress.

The research found a number of factors that can trigger diabetes-related psychological distress in young people with type 1 diabetes.

Yup I can identify with that too, as you don't have to be youthful to have these probs - in fact the longer you've had D, some medics seem to think they don't need to actually listen to you at all and can just rubber stamp your file that you were there and they saw you. And if you happen to get the chap that's only just come into the clinic on rotation, then you already know more about it than he does so if you happen to have a complicated question, you are stuffed.

For another 6 or 12 months until your next appointment - if they don't cancel it, as you aren't urgent being experienced with an OK A1c and no complications and they have a lot of newly diagnosed to see that week .......

Sooooo - we knew that already thanks - what are you actually gonna do about it then, Ireland? (and Scotland, England & Wales) ?

(probably a rhetorical question, as we most likely already know the answer to that one too - don't we, children?)
