Eyesight gone blurry over the last few hours .rse

hi guys
Left hospital Thursday tea time . Was told about blurry vision and it would get better. But over the last few hours my vision has worsened
Is this normal
Will it get worse before it gets better

If your blood glucose levels are changing rapidly - If you have been eating low carb, for instance, then it is normal to have blurred vision as the lens of the eye reacts to the change.
It usually corrects in a short while, people are advised not to have their glasses changed for a while after diagnosis to allow it time to settle.
If it is really making things difficult then you could just check with the hospital as they know your starting point and what treatment you have had so should be able to advise better.

Hello, If I remember rightly , you are on insulin ? . Blurred vision is quite common when our Blood glucose levels are changing rapidly. Mine started blurring within a few days of starting insulin and got worse over several days , it does take a while for our sight to get back to normal in my case around a month.

In the meantime if you are worried get your eyes tested having let the Optician know about your recent diabetes diagnosis and blurred vision. A good Optician will check your eyes but not attempt to sell you glasses, if they do then walk out as in a few weeks it’s very likely you won’t need them.

I bought cheap reading glasses at a pound shop.

Till your vision complies with the DVLA eyesight regs, driving is out

Mostly vision returns to normal but in some cases it improves, mine did, I no longer need distance glasses.

I was diagnosed with type 1 about 6 weeks ago and I my eyesight have just gone back to normal. It was quite scary for the first few weeks but it gets better

Initially post diagnosis it lasted about 6 weeks before disappearing.

Ever since and still I get blurry eyesight when I have too high BG and dunno today (as I have it now and BG too high all day) exactly why it is - may be reaction to something a bit stressful today or the new cannula this morning - but at least it prompts me to test more and try and sort it! Like all BG monitoring - it's only useful if we use the info for something!

I was told that it is that the eyes fill up with more fluid to restore the right equilibrium of BS but as that isn’t possible do you get increased level of fluid and changing the shape of the eyes. Hence the blurriness.

The body does produce more fluid when BG is too high - the kidneys work overtime as it tries to flush the glucose out of itself - majorly the bloodstream. So more fluid in all the organs and structures but of course we don't notice 99% of our organs etc, do we? It's actually just specifically the lenses of our eyes changing shape that we notice, not anything else.
