Hi all,

So laser yesterday and today my eyes are really sensitive to light, everything is a damn blur and I had to get a lift into work😡

When I bend down(our office is moving so lots of 'box picking up' action) I feel the pressure in my eyes increasing:confused:

The 1st round of laser I had 3 days off work to R&R but I don't have this luxury this time round and I am noticing these nasty things.

...are they normal after laser or should I ring DSN/eye clinic/gp/nhs direct?

I don't know Suze, but I thought that after any treatment to do with your eyes you were supposed to avoid lifting stuff. I'd get some professional advice before continuing. Hope you recover quickly 🙂

hi Suze have you phoned the eye department? I hope that you've been able to get some appropriate advice.

Thanks both...on the phone now to nhs direct.

Hospital clinic closed at 4.30, docs closed at 5.30 and DSN on leave!!!! Argh

I never knew about not lifting? Sometimes I get so angry coz its the simpliest thing that I should have been told...

You should have been given the time off of work, and lifting or use of a VDU can cause problems (as I have discovered myself) if done too soon after lasering. If NHS direct can not help I would suggest a couple of sick days to be safe. Your own helath should ALWAYS come first.

NHS have said to get to A&E, I felt that was a bit drastic so I rang the eye clinic at shrewsbury hospital which works later than the telford clinic. They can see me tomorrow at 5!! That to me seems a bit too late and relaxed!

Never a happy medium! May opt for the A&E, to be safe than sorry!

Thanks Dale, I did have 3 days off the last time but we are moving offices Thursday so I couldn't have the time off really. Think I might have to log off now as I'm starting to see spots everywhere! Oops...crikey!

Suze - I hope things settle down - I don't know about lazering but when my FIL had cataracts he was given strict instructions not to do any lifting.

Hope you can see someone who is able to help.

I suspect that NHS direct see that they are not in a position to judge and rather than you take any chance they think you should go to A&E. I think you should go to A&E you can tell them NHS direct told you to go - and you don't want to take chances with your eyes.

Thanks everyone! Been to A&E, not much help there either but they have made me an appointment at eye clinic tomorrow...hope nothing gets worse before then!!!

Nighty night all...x

I hope everything goes well at the clinic tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you here. XXXXX

Hi Suze I hope that everything goes well today x

Hi Suze

I have had a lot of lasering done to both eyes. The opthalmologist always advised me to avoid heaving lifting, strenerous exercise etc. He also said that even heaving coughing can upset the eyes and can cause the blood vessells to bleed.

In relation to the spots that you see, I can vaguely remember having these. I remember going to eye casualty and they told me that this was floaters/small bleeds resulting from the bleed vessells and that the laser would eventually kick in to reduce the blood vessells and stop this happening.

Good luck at the eye clinic.

Claire

Aww thanks guys...yep all sorted now.

Went to acute eye clinic today, the op said that after laser surgery 1 in 5 will experience a slow recovery where the slight maybe impaired/dimished vision but luckily this is temporary. It is due to retained fluid /swelling which is funny coz after the first session, I had a bad cold with runny eyes, sinus probs and this would make sense as the retained fluid coming out but obviously this time round it hasn't released as easy and is now stuck(!)

Anywho, I got some eye drops to ease any swelling and appointment in a week if no improvement.

At least someone trained has checked my eyes for damage from lifting and the pressure is fine (should be in range of 10-20 and mine was 12 in each eye!)

Yey!!
