Hi colin, great news about the eyes and feet - good to hear that things are in order! Like you, I didn't know about the pulse in my feet. I still can't find it when I try to! I suffered from cold feet a long time prior to diagnosis, but I'm very conscious of them now - all this cold weather really hasn't helped over the past few months.

Also, like you, I get headaches at the back of my head, particularly if I've gone low during the night. Still, I don't get hangovers any more because I don't drink like I used to, so I'm probably ending up with fewer headaches overall.

Hi glad your feeling better!
Alex does suffer with headaches in the late afternoon sometimes - i dont know why as he isnt low or anything - maybe its dehydration? Bev

Hi Colin

Sadly diabetes often affects the circulation, especially to the etremities.
I have a couple of toes that are bluish at the ends and split heels. Rubbing cream and a balm from Boots has started to help.

Correctly fitting shoes are very imortant.

A pulse is simply where a blood vessel (vein, usually) lies over a bone, so that the blood vessel can be restricted by the observer's finger so the pumping action of the heart can be detected, and the relative strength of blood flow estimated. For more detailed analysis, a dopler machine is used. The easiest pulse to find is on the wrist - no need to remove shoes for that - or in the neck, although current resuscitation training is not to waste time looking for that. However, blood flow is rarely restricted to arms / hands / neck/ head by specifically diabetic complications!
There have been other threads with ideas about maintaining comfortable temperature feet and hands.

For the headaches, since you've had your eyes done it is not eye strain. If drinking more water/liquids doesn't help maybe it is high blood pressure? High blood pressure and stress do it for me, so worht getting it checked out.

Hope the headaches go soon.
