You don't normally get the results from the eye screening until a few weeks later when they have been analysed by a specialist ophthalmologist as the people doing the screening are not usually the ones to give the results.
If it does show something then keeping your blood glucose at good level is important.
Many people will have a 'background retinopathy' result but then the next time it will be OK. But if there is an issue then be guided by your GP or diabetic nurse.

It looks like there may be a missing word or phrase in your message. "This year there is some.... what?

It is quite unusual to get a result straight away from NHS retinal screening as it usually has to be checked by at least one other trained technician/clinician to identify any irregularity before a defect is detected, so I would be wary of drawing any conclusions from any comment the screening technician made and wait for a letter which normally takes a couple of weeks.

If you are saying you have had the letter and they have detected some changes then if you can let us know what it says we might be able to reassure you.

She showed me the images from the back of my eyes and said there were 3-4 small bleeds and said she would send the results to my doctor and I should get a letter in around 3 weeks

Was this NHS screening or something you paid for at the opticians?

Are you in Scotland? I know the screening system is different there as I believe it is computerized and that negates the need for more than one technician to check the photos.

As @Leadinglights has mentioned, the best you can do is to manage your BG levels as well as possible. If you are struggling to do so through dietary changes alone then perhaps you should consider some medication to help you, but you would still need to make adjustments to what you eat and do a bit of daily exercise if you are able to help the medication.

Hopefully it is just background retinopathy and is reversible or at least remains static once you get your BG levels more stable.
