Eye Screening

I have to have the seat pumped up to it's highest position and a cushion plus the seat almost as far forward as it can.
Me too. As we are down to one car now I have to remember to put the seat back or hubby can't get behind the steering wheel

Well I went, I didn’t like it but I think it’s just the dark room, I’m the same at the opticians, it’s being in close probity to someone in a dark room…blimey I sound ridiculous don’t I!

The drops haven’t affected my eyes much at all which is good..now I have to wait for the results so plenty of worry time for me..

Worrying is like politicians speeches. Doesn't actually fix anything and takes up too much headspace.
Easier said than done, but having regular checks is the best you can do. Hopefully the mounjaro will help you manage your diabetes so you can continue to support your husband.
Wishing you all the best.

Born worrier me…I blame my mum!

They will only prescribe Mounjaro if my eye screening and blood results are ok, so remains to be seen if they’ll let me try it but let’s hope they do 🙂

Great news! Congratulations! It is understandably a huge relief.
Hopefully you will be less reticent when your next test is due in a year or two. Best to keep up with regular screening so that any issues can be spotted early and dealt with when they are very minor.

I will definitely go in future..I did find having it done played havoc with my anxiety but that’s the dark room with a stranger thing, but I’ve done it once so no excuse now 🙂

I 'failed' my eye screening checks on one of my eyes around 2 years ago and within 3 months I had started laser treatment on it. Unfortunately the first lot of laser treatment didnt work so I had to go back for more... the second lot didnt work either as the swelling remained so I began having eye injections in one eye.

Meanwhile my other eye 'failed' so I needed to start laser treatment in that one too! I could never remember if I was as the hospital for another round of laser or for the injection!!

Long story short, the laser treatment sadly didnt work for me on either eye, but the eye injections did work and the swelling disappeared in one eye so they are now starting injections in my other eye - in fact at some point I will be having injections in both eyes at the same time to keep the swelling away!

Why am I telling you all of this? I'm still driving and as long as the injections continue to work, I will still be able to safely drive 🙂

Thank you. I hope the injections continue to work for you 🙂 I’m pleased to say my eye screening result was normal which was a huge relief

Glad they came back OK!

The point I was trying to make was that even if you dont pass, it's not the end! I've had 4 injections in one eye so far and that's not the end of it - as long as it keeps working I will keep having injections and I will keep my eyesight, the frequencey of injections should reduce though.

I initially thought once the course of 4 injections was over that was that and was worried the swelling would come back after they had stopped. One gentlemen who was several decades older than me has had dozens and dozens of them over the years and still had good vision so it's not over by a long shot.

All Diabetics should attend their annual eye screening checkup as the sooner something is spotted, the sooner treatment can begin and the longer you will keep you sight. I'm in my 40's and plan to keep my sight for at least another 40 years!
