Thank you for all of your lovely messages. I didn't manage to finish the laser session because it was too uncomfortable. I had more than 1000 laser burns and the doctor said that I'd managed more than he expected. He said that I would probably need several more laser sessions but they will probably be more painful. If I can't manage them general anaesthetic is an option. I go to Moorfields on July 1st and then back to my local hospital in six weeks. The lasered eye currently feels blobby and isn't too happy if I move around but there is no pain.
 
Sounds like quite an ordeal Amanda, well done for putting up with it for so long. I hope that you recover quickly and are able to chill out for a bit now 🙂

I'm sorry to hear it was so uncomfortable Amanda and hope you are following orders to take it easy.

I had some laser done under GA when the area needing laser was too near my optic nerve - it is good to know there are options they can try for you to limit the discomfort.

I hope your poorly eye starts to recover soon 🙂

Ooo opt for a GA next time AJ...that's more than anyone should have to endure fully awake! Hope it's very successful for you and it's now time to treat yourself!!
 
Thank you everyone. The painkillers have meant that I've been virtually pain free since the laser was finished. I could possibly have had more laser if I wasn't such a wimp. Flower I so admire you with all that you've had done.
 
I think you and Flower are extremely brave. How on earth do you avoid moving your eye while they're doing it?
 
You are exceedingly brave dealing with it all Amanda, it is traumatic and very frightening to go through. There is no element of being a wimp involved.

Good to hear the painkillers have done the trick 🙂
 
That sounds awful AJ. How did you manage? You are amazing. Hope you feel better soon. Take care and rest up. People like you and Flower are an inspiration to me and I feel so humble when I read what you both endure so stoically. It certainly puts things into perspective for me. Thank you 🙂

Thank you Redkite. I just stared and hoped each time that this lot of lights wasn't going to be the one that hurt🙄 I think about seven lots hurt but the rest were fine. I had an excellent consultant who let me go at my own pace🙂

Thank you for asking Northerner. The eyeis a little strange but mainly ok now. However the whole experience from being told that I needed the treatment to having the first laser to the corneal scratch has left me feeling very down and tearful and has accentuated how much I am missing Susie. I already have another six hospital appointments in my diary for just the next month! F
Four of which are for different eye conditions and two for teeth being taken out under general anaesthetic. I feel like I have no control over my life. I am trying to cheer myself up but at the moment I'm in tears.

Big {{{HUGS}}} Amanda. It can seem relentless at times, hopefully all this will lead to problems being solved and you getting a break from all that 'medicalisation'. Stay strong, Susie is watching over you and will never leave you 🙂
