Well, had a 6 monthly check at the good eye hospital today & despite the clinic being packed I am seriously impressed. Very orderly & thorough.

That's the good news lol. Actually, it's not too grim, I shouldn't despair just yet...first signs of maculopathy brewing (oh joy 🙄), what seems to be some old 'new' vessels, which don't seem to be causing a problem, some short circuit vessels (not the right term I know but that's what they seem to do, go between the arterial vessels to the veinous vessels...& as expected post vitrectomy my lens in the bad eye is like one of a fifty yr old (ie I'm slowly starting to brew up a cateract.). None of this is immediately sight threatening or unduly worrying (to doc at least lol), but I'm back on 3 month checks. Oh well, even more incentive to improve my control & get below 7% on my next HbA1c I suppose! All could have been a lot worse, & I escaped without a lasering, which after the old hospital is a relief hehe. Time for a medicinal glass of wine I think...

Phew! Not good that there are things that need more regular scrutiny, but glad you didn't need more lasering today, and good you are being monitored - hope that continues for future checks 🙂 You deserve that wine, brave lady!

I've already got the eyes of a 50 yr old 😉

Oh Twitchy that's a lot going on but I'm glad that nothing needs immediate treatment or is sight threatening. Also good that you've got a great hospital. If it helps at the age of 42 my optician said that I had the eyes of a 85 year old🙄 cataract surgery isn't too bad but being a wimp I did opt for a general anaesthetic for each of mine. Enjoy your wine xx

Thanks guys 🙂 Could be far worse, trying not to stress...had bacon butties & wine to restore my equivrium, seems to be helping lol...very grateful for being cared for by a great hospital! 🙂
