Hi Newbs,

How odd that's two of you now saying it's strange for the omeprazole to be helping with the nausea - we assumed that it might have settled the stomach a bit more.

She has found that if she eats without taking it first it makes her feel awful and really sick.

I'm really sorry to hear that you're likely to have it too - do you have long to wait for your test?

Hi Steff - I absolutely agree, it's such an important resource to have here especially when it's so hard to get any kind of understanding or movement from the nhs.

Found this for you http://www.patient.co.uk/medicine/Omeprazole.htm note the side effects.

I was given the drug to line my tum due to steroid used. I'd rather my tum rotted than use omeprazole again it made me so ill.

Wow thanks for that Sue - I don't know what to think about it really, if she doesn't use it she can't eat because of feeling sick, and if she does it may not be helping with her diarrhea - talk about a rock and a hard place!

She still had the diarrhea when she wasn't on Omeprazole, so it may well be exacerbating it but I guess at least she can eat something. It's hard for her to eat a decent amount as it is so it has to be a good thing, for now at least!

Really useful to know about the side effects though so thank you for looking it up - it may well be contributing. Sounds like you had a horrid time on it.

Have not been referred for a test as yet, my gp does not want to refer me just yet, wants to see how much the domperidone helps first. Costs I guess!

She takes nurofen rather than ibuprofen, and has been warned off taking any ibuprofen so that's not a problem
🙂

Sorry about your friends problems - I can't really add anything but I just wanted to point out that nurofen is just a brand name for ibuprofen ie they are the same drug as far as I know.

Hope she gets some help soon - she must feel awful but she is lucky to have a good friend like you 🙂

Hi Moosifer,

So sorry to hear about your friends problems. She seems to have a very good friend in you. Big {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} for her. Hope she is sorted out and feels better very soon. x

Newbs - isn't it always! Hope it all goes alright when you get your test done - at least once you know what it is you can deal with it.

Meanmom - I thought I'd heard that before - I'll let her know, thanks so much for the info and wishes 🙂

Thanks whiskysmum 🙂 I hope it all gets sorted too, it's frustrating to watch especially when you don't understand everything about quite a complicated illness (for me anyhow!)
